Personal Coaching explained

Coaching is a very personal thing and each person/player has a unique way of operating at their best. Putting the person before the player is one of the cornerstones of Dónal’s coaching philosophy. In order to help each player achieve their goals/vision it’s crucial that the coaching plan is in line with those goals and objectives.

Get to know

Before working with any player in person I try to get a sense of who they are, where they are coming from and what their goals are. This allows me to develop a coaching plan that will challenge them to rise to the level they are capable of competing at.

No quick fixes

Long term sustainable progress requires a commitment from both player and coach. I will work with each player and their team to make sure that they have what is required to keep progressing towards their goals.

Objectives & Results

Develop tournament Blueprints:

  • Preparation plan - Specific training plans to meet course demands
  • Performance targets - Develop round goals designed to help meet overall performance goals
  • Process goals - Processes that are aligned with specific tournament challenges and overall goals

Tournament reflections:

  • Identify what led to successful outcomes
  • Identify opportunities for progress
  • Use the reflections to adapt and upgrade training plans
  • Upgrade upcoming tournament goals if necessary
